I set up Pelicam to try to deliver change differently. Far too often, the answer was always “throw more people and process at it.” I was determined to change that, and within Pelicam we have done it differently.

However, conventional wisdom holds that up to 70% of major transformations fail. That’s a shocking statistic. But it is one that is commonly accepted with a shrug and a knowing nod when I mention it to clients and peers. The broader transformation industry still appears to revert to simply engaging more people and more process.

So, we are gathering a group of the most senior and experienced Change professionals to help our industry improve its odds. We are in the process of drafting A Manifesto for Change and we’d very much welcome people to join us.

We have kick-started the manifesto thinking with four key actions to improve the odds beyond 30% chance of success:

·Address the systemic behaviours that get in the way of every change
·Develop the safe spaces that will empower creativity and care
·Focus on the few success factors that will give your programme stability
·Build greater adaptability to ensure delivery.

Please let me know if you would like to join in the discussion, as the more senior voices involved, the more powerful the output will be. Get in touch with me at p.mayer@pelicam.com

I very much look forward to your input, and to sharing the output with the broader industry, as we really need to improve the odds, and improve the return on capital and human investment in major change.
